offering guided whitetail deer hunts , just an hour North of the Dallas/Fort
Worth Metroplex!
Southern
Cross Ranch, just
Northwest of Gainesville, Texas, is over 4500 acres of Oak canyons, bluffs, and
upland prairies bordering on the Historic Red River. The Deer on this ranch have been lightly
hunted by family and friends for the past 10 years. The Harvest
of Trophy bucks has not been allowed. Management
hunts have produced the good Whitetail Bucks that are pictured mounted on the walls on
this site. It has been intensively managed with the help of
Texas
Parks
and Wildlife to possess
some great
Deer
,
Turkey
and Quail.
This
ranch is a participant in the level III managed lands permit, which gives us a
longer season, and the ability to be more flexible in the amount of animals
harvested.
This
Ranch, all low fenced, was blest by nature with the topography and
geography to be a natural habitat and haven for wildlife, especially Whitetail
Deer and
turkey. With the West Border
of six miles of State Highway
, The East of 8 miles of
Red River
, and the North and South
neighbors comprising another 10,000 acres of intensively managed low fence
ranches, game thrives on this place!
This ranch is a working cattle and cutting horse ranch, with superb internal
roads and fencing, as well as intensive food plot development, mineral
supplements, corn feeders and scattered
50-100 acre pocket wheat pastures.

Recap
We
didn't do much hunting this year, due to too much work obligations, and about 30
feet of rain!. However, a client took a book buck that scored over 187 points,
and two others were taken over 160. We've also seen and heard lots of mountain
lion activity!

It is a
relatively well-kept secret that
North Texas
has Whitetail sizes that
rival the Deer in
South Texas
. Just last year a Bow
hunter took a 230+ point Boone and Crockett Buck on the Hagerman WMA, just down
the
Red River
from the Ranch. Also,
pictured on our site is a 211 point buck locked with a 157 point buck mount that
was found on the ranch last year.

Hunt
packages are offered as a 3-4 day, six hunt opportunity. Hunters can expect to
see very good Whitetail Bucks in the 140++ Boone and Crockett range. Hunts
can be arranged in blinds over feeders or Stalk. Each hunt offered will be
guided (2x1), and will include lodging and some great food !

Bow
hunters will have the opportunity to book a hunt during Archery season on a
limited basis as well. This Ranch sets up as well for the Bow as any in the
Nation.
At the
lodge you will find satellite TV, a lighted, regulation skeet field, a rifle
range,( up to 1000 yards!) and very comfortable accommodations for up to 10.
If
flight schedules permit, we will pick you up at either airport in
Dallas
, or at
Gainesville
municipal airport.
If
your group is larger or smaller, please call so that we can discuss your needs. Also
included in the package is the ability to harvest up to two does, as well as
feral hogs, and/ or predators. Hunts do not have to be scheduled around week-end
times.

you are interested in Management hunts or Father-son Doe and Cull hunts, please
call and we will try to hook you up.
Pricing
for
the hunt for the 2005-2006 season is $2,500 per gun, (Plus trophy fees for
over 140 B&C points), four man minimum,
which includes one Whitetail buck, two does, hogs and predators.
These hunts are "FAIR CHASE"
hunts. Lodging and meals are included, as
well as guide, skinning, and transportation (within limitation).
We've
had a lot of rain this spring and summer, forage conditions are exceptional!
